The Thamesmead Wild Water Race returns for its third edition, bringing another exciting day of racing, paddlesport and community to the heart of South East London.
Whether you’re taking on your very first race, introducing new paddlers to Wild Water Racing, or chasing another podium finish, this event has something for everyone.
Set on the beautiful Southmere Lake, competitors will tackle a fast and exciting 500m sprint course, starting from Cygnet Square, looping around the iconic Southmere Water Fountain before charging towards the finish outside Southmere Watersports Centre.
One entry gives you the freedom to make the most of the day. Take as many race runs as you like, try different boats, and see how your times compare across multiple classes. Wavehoppers, Wild Water Racers, slalom boats, canoes, kayaks and SUPs are all welcome, with plenty of boats available to borrow and experienced coaches on hand to help newcomers get started.
Looking for an extra challenge? Gather two friends and take on the Team Sprint Challenge, where teamwork is just as important as speed. No team? No problem — we’ll help pair paddlers together on the day.
Away from the racing, enjoy a relaxed festival atmosphere with recreational paddling sessions, great food and drinks from The Thamesmead Social, and the Thamesmead Festival just a short walk away, featuring live music, entertainment and activities throughout the day.
This is more than a race — it’s a celebration of paddlesport.
Come to race.
