SUMMARY:Thamesmead Wildwater Race | Become the legacy! #2
DESCRIPTION:Region: London\nType: Regional\nFormat: Sprint \nDistance: Approx. 500m\nRiver Grade & Hazards: The course is held on flat\, still water (Grade 0)\, with a centrally placed water fountain that paddlers must race around as part of the course but should avoid getting too close or holding onto.\nSuitable for Novice: Yes\nSafety Cover: Yes\nSafety Officer: Aaron Nolan\nStart: Cygnet Square\nFinish: Southmere Watersports Centre\nRace Start: 11:00 am\nCheck-in Time: 10:00 am\nBriefing Time: 10:30 am\nAdditional Info: Location: Southmere Watersports Centre\, Bazalgette Way\, Thamesmead\, SE2 9AN.\nDistance: Approx. 500m (Estimated 5 – 8 minutes racing time)\nSprint Format: Fastest time wins – Multiple runs welcome! \n— — — \nWhat’s Happening?\nFor the second time ever\, Southmere Lake is hosting a paddlesport race – and it’s going to be bold\, fast\, and full of energy. The Thamesmead Wild Water Race 2025 is a flatwater wild water sprint\, open to paddlers of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re chasing your first race or your next personal best\, this is your invitation to take part in something new\, exciting\, and unforgettable. \nThis isn’t just about speed. It’s about energy\, confidence\, and connection — pushing your own boundaries\, trying different disciplines\, and becoming part of a growing paddling community in the heart of Thamesmead. \n— — — \nWhat to Expect:\nAt the centre of the action is a short\, thrilling 500m sprint course: paddlers will loop anti-clockwise around the iconic Southmere Water Fountain\, charge past the café\, and power through to a fast finish at Southmere Watersports Centre. \nYou can take multiple runs throughout the evening — and your fastest time counts.\nYou don’t need your own boat or prior experience. In fact\, we encourage you to try something new. Wild water racers\, wavehoppers\, slalom boats\, general-purpose kayaks\, canoes\, and stand-up paddleboards are all welcome. Equipment can be borrowed on the day\, so all you really need is enthusiasm and a willingness to paddle. \nOne entry fee covers everything. Want to jump in a K1\, then hop on a SUP\, and finish the night with a C2 team sprint? Go for it. This is your chance to challenge yourself across multiple craft\, compare times\, and discover new favourites. \n— — — \nTeam Runs – Assemble Your Dream Team of Three!\nGrab two mates — or three C2s — and take on the Team Sprint Challenge. It’s fast. It’s wild. And it’s seriously good fun. \nTo qualify\, all three paddlers or boats must finish within 15 seconds of each other. Your team’s time is based on the last paddler across the line — so it’s all about coordination and teamwork. \nNot in a team? Don’t worry. Talk to one of our coaches on the day — we’ll help you join or form a team\, pairing beginners\, developing paddlers\, and experienced racers so everyone gets a chance to shine. \nWin the Team Trophy – or just enjoy the ride and soak up the cheers. \n— — — \nOn the Day:\nFacilities include changing rooms\, showers\, toilets\, and secure areas for bags. The Thamesmead Social café\, just next door\, will be open for drinks\, snacks\, and warm food — all served with a lakeside view of the action. \nCoaches and volunteers will be on hand throughout\, offering support\, encouragement\, and water safety cover. \n— — — \nBecome the Legacy!\nThis isn’t just the start line of a race — it’s the beginning of a paddling future in Thamesmead.\nBy taking part in this first event\, you’re helping to shape a new local hub for paddlesport. A place where newcomers and athletes\, families and clubs\, can come together on the water — year after year. \nSo come along. Try something new. Be part of something big.\nBe bold. Shape the story. Become the legacy.\nFees: Senior (£): 6 U18 (£): 6\nEntries On The Day: Late entries on the day are accepted\nLate Entry Surcharge (£): 0\nSingle Event Membership: Yes\, Single Event Membership entry is accepted\nPayment Details: Entry Fee: £6 per paddler (includes all classes – enter as many as you like!)\nPayment: Cash or Card on the day\nPre-registration & Questions: thamesmead@thesharks.org.uk\nOnline Entries Close: 12/12/2025 23:00 \n Thamesmead #2 TitleHitsDate modified Thamesmead_WWR_13-12-202513529-09-2025 Risk_Assesment_Thamesmead_WWR_13-12-202512629-09-2025 \nOnline entries to this event are closed. \n \nNameClubClassCrew Boat PartnerKathryn TuckMeridian Canoe ClubWK1Steve TuckMeridian Canoe ClubMK1Nicky TuckMeridian Canoe ClubWK1MALCOLM BLOWERSMeridian Canoe ClubMK1Brett Serafin-WalkerMeridian Canoe ClubMK1

SUMMARY:The Reunion Regional Wildwater Race - 2025
DESCRIPTION:Region: Wales\nType: Regional\nFormat: Classic \nDistance: 4km\nRiver Grade & Hazards: Moving and moderate white water with a section of Grade 3 rapids\, which can become more challenging at high water. See risk assessment for a more details\nSuitable for Novice: No\nSafety Cover: No\nSafety Officer: Jamie Christie\nFirst Aid: Jamie Christie\nStart: Below Serpents Tail\nFinish: Above Llangollen Town Falls [The finish will be the same as used for the ECA cup events held at the same weekend]\nRace Start: 14:15\nCheck-in Time: from 10:00\nBriefing Time: 14:00 \nAdditional Info:  A friendly informal race\, ideal for anyone that wishes to enter a paddling competition. Open to any paddler using any boat meeting the dimensions rules of a Wildwater racing boat this includes for example a slalom boat or plastic river running boat. Refreshments will be available in the a function room of the nearby Chainbridge Hotel. The course is a time trial on Grade 3 white water. Intermediate levels of experience are necessary to enjoy safely. Saturday Evening is the Reunion Dinner to reminisce with old friends at “The Sun Trevor” (Just outside the Llangollen Town). For reunion meal reservations\, please confirm ASAP as places are limited\, bookings can be made with this link: https://canoeingresults.com/canoe-reunion-meal-reservation-22-11-2025/ \nCourse Description: Initially there is a section of flat boily water. A rocky weir follows\, with opportunities to play. The railway passes overhead\, and another broken weir offers a chute on river left. The next bit to look out for is the Grade 3 section at ‘Mile End Mill’\, the large building on river right. A broken weir begins these rapids\, watch out for debris in it…Look for paddlers queuing for or actually in the play stopper below this weir. The Factory site ends where the river splits around an island\, go left (as right has a nasty spiky weir). From the bottom of the island it is a relatively easy run down to the finish which will be river right above the weir that marks the starts of the town falls rapids \nFees: Senior £8 U18 £8\nEntries On The Day: Late entries on the day are accepted\nLate Entry Surcharge: £0\nOnline Entries Close: 20/11/2025 23:30 \n Llangollen 2025 - Reunion TitleHitsDate modified Reunion WWR flyer 2025 Final14801-10-2025 Llangollen - WWR Event Risk Assessment July 20258311-11-2025 \n  \nOnline entries to this event are closed \n \nNameClubClassCrew Boat PartnerAlan TordoffRiverside Cottage Kayak ClubMK1Michael StegemanProteusMC2Jason ReidDavid WilliamsNotts Uni ExilesMC1Pete GoodeHPPCCMC1Robert JoceHuntingdon CCMK1Isabel JoceHuntingdon CCWK1Fred DoodeyWorcesterMK1Michael stegemanProteusMC1Ross PeartonHemel Hempstead CCMC1
