To all affiliated clubs with a registered interest in Wild Water Racing.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the WWR Annual Consultative Meeting which will take place on Sunday 12th January 2020. All with an interest in Wild Water Racing are welcome to attend. Please see below for full details:
Wild Water Racing – Annual Consultative Meeting
Sunday 12th January 2020 from 10.30am
Lunch will be provided
To be held at: British Canoeing, National Water Sports Centre, Adbolton Lane, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham NG12 2LU
In order to ensure appropriate notice is given and there is sufficient time for members to consider business for the ACM and nominations for the committee the decision has been taken, in conjunction with British Canoeing staff, to hold the ACM in January 2020. This is outside of the timescales stated in the current Terms of Reference. There are a number of important discussions to be held around the future of Wild Water Racing and the decision to delay the ACM has been taken with the full support of the British Canoeing CEO.
Alongside this formal ACM notice the committee Terms of Reference are being circulated for consultation (Please note that this is a draft consultation document).
Comments need to be received by the secretary email@example.com by 12 noon Monday 2nd December 2019. Final discussion and approval of the Terms of Reference will take place at the ACM. We would encourage you to feed into this consultation.
Please forward any items for inclusion on the ACM Agenda to the Secretary – wildwaterracing. firstname.lastname@example.org by 12 noon Monday 2nd December 2019.
Any item for the Agenda, not originating from the WWR Committee must be signed by 2 Individual (full) Members (of British Canoeing, Scottish Canoe Association, Canoe Wales or Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) and represent a registered club.
Nominations of candidates for election to the WWR Committee at the ACM must also be submitted to the Secretary – email@example.com supported by the signatures of 2 Individual (full) Members (of British Canoeing, Scottish Canoe Association, Canoe Wales or Canoe Association of Northern Ireland) and represent a registered club.
Please use the online ‘Nomination form’.
Current members of the committee:
|Committee member||Role||Retirement date|
|Peter Schofield||Chair||Autumn 2019|
|Julie Lewis||Secretary||Autumn 2020|
|Simon Wright||Treasurer||Autumn 2019|
|Jamie Christie||England rep|
|James Wingfield||Wales rep|
|Not currently taken up||Scotland rep|
|Vacant||Northern Ireland rep|
The current terms of reference for the WWR Committee state that “officers will be elected at alternate ACMs and serve for 2 years…the Chair and Treasurer being elected in odd years and the Secretary in even years.” Therefore the following positions are open for election:
- Chair (Peter Schofield will be stepping down from the position as Chair so this position will be vacant).
Following the review of the committee terms of reference further committee roles may be created. In anticipation of this we would welcome nominations for general committee members.
Please see the document titled ‘WWR Roles and Responsibilities’ for further information about the role of the committee and the positions up for election.
Further details of the business of the ACM, including the Agenda, will be posted on the WWR and British Canoeing website on Monday 9th December 2019.
Alongside the ACM we will be holding a Wild Water Racing Development Forum, to be led by David Joy, CEO British Canoeing. This will take the form of an open discussion about the successes and challenges facing Wild Water Racing in the UK. Further details will follow with the ACM Agenda.
We would very much like to encourage everyone with an interest in Wild Water Racing to attend.
