Message from Peter Schofield
After some 20 years as Chairman of the British Canoeing Wild Water Racing Committee I’ve decided to step down so that I can focus on continue developing WWR World-Wide as part of the ICF International Technical Committee. As a sport we’ve built on the very strong foundations I took over to achieve a level of success on the international stage that I never dreamed of when I took on the role. It has been great fun and I’ve made a lot of friends around the world. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to enable so many individuals to achieve their own personal objectives as well as developing WWR as part of the wider canoeing family.
We now have a strong committee with excellent technical support and a range of new fresh ideas so I think it’s a good time to step down. I’ll still be helping at races, taking photos and driving where needed in the UK and at International events to continue developing WWR in Great Britain and World-Wide.
I very much look forward to seeing as many people as possible at our Autumn National Series Races at Llangollen on the Dee next weekend and at the Tour du Nord as well as wishing our GB Team the very best as they prepare for the World Cup and International Races in China this December
