Welcome to Wildwater Canoeing

Wildwater Canoeing is a discipline of canoe racing, also known as Wildwater Racing and Whitewater Racing. The wildwater time trial is the purest of whitewater racing forms - the athlete, the river, the clock.

A racing performance is the result of physical conditioning, skill and harmony with the water - and is the only sport where social paddling is necessary to achieve a peak performance. Beautiful water, scenery and companionship make the Wild Water Racing experience compelling. The competitor is free to take whichever route on the river they desire, a freedom of racing unsurpassed in the whitewater world.

Wildwater Canoeing is governed by British Canoeing

Wednesday and Thursday, Day 4&5 - many thanks to Robyn Webb

The river is now very busy with all the competing nations athletes wanting to nail that perfect run ready for the race. Some great runs for our athletes, you can't see much of the classic course, but the sprint course makes for great spectating.

Each day has consisted of splitting into two groups, either doing full runs of the course or concentrating on the sprint section. They are all racking up the number of runs and it's great to see confidence increase, with some strong runs by Rachel and Mags. Although the course is starting to take its toll on the boats and some TLC is required. But working as a team they've helped each other to repair and patch up where required.

The team are looking great as a whole on the water and are now looking at preparing themselves ready for the race days (refuel, rest, analysis of footage).

Team pic, please find here. (You may need to sign up to our Facebook page)Never thought a group of people would be so afraid of a picture considering the water they paddle. But nevertheless we managed to wrangle them up and make them half presentable. Good job they take great pictures in the water
